The Schlitt Family has offered professional real estate services for three generations. Ed and Marguerite Schlitt opened Ed Schlitt Real Estate in 1953 serving Vero Beach, Florida. They were joined by their daughter, Linda Schlitt Gonzalez in 1972 and by their son, Steven Schlitt, in 1998. Today Linda’s son, Andrew, has joined the firm.
Following the tradition of their parents, Linda Schlitt Gonzalez and Steven Schlitt presently co-own the company. They have grown the company into nine offices covering over 100 miles along Florida’s east coast. Now known as Coldwell Banker Paradise, the company has a sales force of over 200 sales associates and 45 staff to meet real estate needs for Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, South Hutchinson Island, North Hutchinson Island, Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Melbourne, Florida.
2012 marked a year of expansion for the company, with the acquisition of Hoyt C. Murphy Realtors in St. Lucie County. In 1949, Hoyt Campbell Murphy began Hoyt C. Murphy REALTORS that grew to include more than 50 Sales Associates and three offices with prime locations in Fort Pierce, South Hutchinson Island, Ocean Village and Port St. Lucie. Their son, Hoyt C. “Pat” Murphy, Jr., and their daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Murphy, joined the business and continued the family heritage. Since 1949, the firm has sold over $1.5 Billion of local real estate transactions including groves, hotels, residences, condominiums and commercial properties.
Also, in 2012, Coldwell Banker Paradise acquires Paradise realty based out of Melbourne. As a result, Ed Schlitt L.C. does business under several names. The residential sales and rental arm of the real estate division is a Coldwell Banker franchise and does business as Coldwell Banker Paradise and Coldwell Banker Paradise Hoyt Murphy Realtors. The commercial arm does business as Coldwell Banker Commercial. The Property Management division does business as Schlitt Property Management, Inc. The umbrella name for all of the divisions is Coldwell Banker Paradise.
In addition to sales, Coldwell Banker Paradise offers an active rental department and full time property management service with an on-site accounting service. They maintain a marketing and advertising department with a full-time staff writer and graphics artist.
In 2012, Coldwell Banker Paradise was voted #1 Best Real Estate Company in Vero Beach, #1 Best Real Estate Company and #1 Best Property Management Company in Fort Pierce by the readership of Hometown News which has a total of 56,450 subscribers in Indian River and St. Lucie County, Florida.
