The Rich History of Melbourne Beach

Discovered over 500 years ago Melbourne beach is the landing site of Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon. It was originally believed that he came ashore in St. Augustine however Historian/Navigator Douglas T. Peck proved otherwise. On April 2, 1513 Melbourne Beach was born, thanks to Ponce de Leon and his search for the Fountain of Youth. ("Old Melbourne Beach Town Hall historical marker 01" by Leonard J.
