Their son, Hoyt C. “Pat” Murphy, Jr., and their daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Murphy, joined the business and continued the family heritage. Since 1949, the firm has sold over $1.5 Billion of local real estate transactions including groves, hotels, residences, condominiums and commercial properties. In 2012 the Hoyt family joined their long standing family business with that of their neighbors up the road, the Schlitt’s. Ed and Marguerite Schlitt opened Ed Schlitt Real Estate in 1953 serving Vero Beach, Florida. They were joined by their da¬ughter, Linda Schlitt Gonzalez in 1972 and by their son, Steven Schlitt, in 1998. They were later joined by two of Linda’s children, agents Andrew and Melanie Gonzalez as well as their sister Barb Schlitt Ford who serves as Head of Operations. Human Resources, and Legal. Following the tradition of their parents, Linda and Steve have grown the company into nine offices covering over 100 miles along Florida’s east coast.
